Excited for India 'test', says returning Faulkner

India vs Australia - Complete Coverage | Full Schedule

Admitting that India are currently in a very "good knick", Australian all-rounder James Faulkner believes that its going to be a real test for them when they face Virat Kohli and Co. in the limited-overs series starting September 17.

Australia are coming off what was a challenging Test series against Bangladesh which they somehow managed to level.

On the other hand, the Men in Blue are coming off a successful tour of Sri Lanka, wherein they whitewashed the hosts in all the three formats.

India completed an overwhelmingly successful tour of Sri Lanka, winning every international match - 3-0 in the Tests, 5-0 in the ODIs and 1-0 in the lone T20I.

"Look, they (India) have played a lot of one-day cricket, off-late. They are in a very good knick at the moment. And like I said, it's gonna be a test and we are very excited for it," said Faulkner on Monday.

"It's going to be a good series. The last time we were here, we played some good, tuff cricket. We are really excited," he added.

The lanky pacer further asserted that it has always been a good cricketing rivalry between both the nations and the fans would definitely see some good, tough cricket.

The Steve Smith-led side arrived in Chennai from Bangladesh and would be playing their first warm-up match against Board President's XI at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday.

"Looking forward to playing the warm-up game before the series starts. It's tough conditions here in Chennai, it's hot out there," the all-rounder insisted.

The reigning 50-over World Champions have struggled to counter spin and captain Smith has admitted it will a big challenge for them to adapt to spin-friendly conditions.

Faulkner, who was not a part of the Australian squad for the Champions Trophy, would be playing the shorter version of the game after quite a while.

Speaking about the same, the 27-year-old said that it has been tough for him.

"It's been tough. If you ask any player any time he gets left out, it's no great fun. You have to rely on your friends and family and teammates as well," he said.

"And at the end of the day, it's up to you to be on the spot. So, I am excited to be back in the group. it's a good opportunity to play against a very good opposition in their own country," he added. Stay updated on the go with Sify Live Scores App. Click here to download it for your device

India withdraw Smith protest as boards make peace in DRS row

India have withdrawn an official protest about the actions of Australia captain Steve Smith in the second test as the governing bodies of both countries moved to bring an end to the acrimony surrounding the ongoing four-match series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier registered a complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over Smith looking to the dressing room for guidance on whether to review an lbw decision during the Bengaluru match. Despite the hosts winning the test to level the series at 1-1 on Tuesday, India skipper Virat Kohli alleged the tourists had indulged in the practice throughout the match, sparking a war of words in the media and a robust response from Australia. The boards released a joint statement on Friday saying the chief executives of both bodies had met in Mumbai on Thursday and agreed to try and bring the focus "back to the game" ahead of next week's third test in Ranchi. "India has always cherished a c...

Leeds [UK], Dec 7 (ANI): Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised midfielder Paul Pogba, saying that he is one of the best players in the world when he is in good touch. "Paul is going to play when he gets his fitness. He is one of the best players in the world when he's in form and we just need to give him time to be 100 per cent fit," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. Pogba has endured a frustrating 2019-20 campaign to date, having only managed five Premier League appearances in total due to a string of fitness issues. He is currently recovering from an ankle injury and last played for the club on September 30 against Arsenal. Solskjaer had said that the France international will be out of action till December. "It might be 45 minutes in the first game, it might be half an hour, it might be 90. It depends on what game he comes back in and I'm looking back to get Paul back to where I had him about a year ago," Solskjaer said. ...
