We are entirely focused on our game: Kohli on India's coach saga

Mumbai: While the Indian cricket team's search for the new head coach continues following the Anil Kumble's resignation, skipper Virat Kohli on Thursday insisted that his team are currently entirely focusing on their ongoing limited-overs series against West Indies and not on anything else.

Speaking on the eve of India's third ODI against the Caribbean side at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Kohli said that the appointment of the new coach is in BCCI's control and that his side's priority is to just focus on their game and win the ongoing series.

"Right now, we have series at hand and this is what we are focused on. The process is taking place. That is something which is in control of the BCCI. The process is always in place. We, as a team, are focusing on the series right now. We will not focus on anything else at the moment. Our priority is coming here and winning this series and preparing for the game that lies ahead of us," the 28-year-old told the reporters here.

When quizzed whether he has any say on the appointment of the coach, the swashbuckling batsman said that they only voice their opinion as a team and that there is no individual view involved.

"From personal point of view, I can't pinpoint anything or give details. We as a team voice our opinions only when being asked by the BCCI to give our suggestions. So, that is something we have always gone through as a process. That is something that we respect as a team," Kohli said.

He further explained, "When asked it has been asked together. It is not like segregation of anything. So we respect that process. And the same procedure if and when takes place. We will give our suggestions to the BCCI."

The head coach position has been vacant since Anil Kumble's resignation following India's 180-run defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final at the Oval on June 18.

Former Indian cricketer Lalchand Rajput, Dodda Ganesh, Richard Pybus and Tom Moody and former Indian opener Virender Sehwag have all applied for the post.

Meanwhile, current junior national chief selector Venkatesh Prasad and Ravi Shastri are the latest applicants for the post.

The last date for applying for the post of India head coach is July 9.

The BCCI had earlier stated that Team India will get its new head coach before their tour to Sri Lanka beginning July 26.

Manchester United to do everything to get Rashford ready for Liverpool clash

Leeds [UK], Jan 16 (ANI): Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said they will do 'everything' they can to get Marcus Rashford in shape for the Liverpool clash. Rashford sustained a back injury on Thursday during the FA Cup clash against Wolves on Thursday and left the field. "He's a quick healer and he'll play through some pain, definitely, if he's capable, if it's not a bad, bad injury. But we've seen that he's struggled lately - but more when he's been tired," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. "He wasn't on long enough to be tired so I think it might have been something that just happened there and then. He's been absolutely top this season so we'll do everything we can to get him fit for Sunday. If he's not then we'll play without him," he added. Leeds [UK], Dec 7 (ANI): Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised midfielder Paul Pogba, saying that he is one of the best players in the world when he is in good touch. "Paul is going to play when he gets his fitness. He is one of the best players in the world when he's in form and we just need to give him time to be 100 per cent fit," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. Pogba has endured a frustrating 2019-20 campaign to date, having only managed five Premier League appearances in total due to a string of fitness issues. He is currently recovering from an ankle injury and last played for the club on September 30 against Arsenal. Solskjaer had said that the France international will be out of action till December. "It might be 45 minutes in the first game, it might be half an hour, it might be 90. It depends on what game he comes back in and I'm looking back to get Paul back to where I had him about a year ago," Solskjaer said. ...
