Venkatesh Prasad applies for India head coach job: Reports

Former India bowler Venkatesh Prasad has applied for the job of India's head coach joining the likes of Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag, among others.

According to a report in TOI, Prasad, who has played 33 Tests and 161 ODIs for India is the latest applicant for the top job. Prasad, who is currently a junior national chief selector will end his term in September.

The report further stated that the Committee of Advisors (COA) wasn't happy with the manner in which the Anil Kumble-Virat Kohli matter was handled. According to the report the COA came to know about the matter only after the IPL 2017 final in Hyderabad.

"They (CoA members) came to know about the problem only after the IPL final in Hyderabad last month, by which time it was too late to do anything except ask the CAC to pitch in," an official stated.

The report further stated that top members were just not happy with the way an BCCI official asked Sehwag to apply for the job.

"If it (the extension) was done to suit Shastri, it won't go down well with Viru, who, we must remember, was asked to apply in the first place. Neither will he be pleased about Sachin Tendulkar's reported request to Shastri to apply for the job."

"He wasn't on long enough to be tired so I think it might have been something that just happened there and then. "Paul is going to play when he gets his fitness. He is one of the best players in the world when he's in form and we just need to give him time to be 100 per cent fit," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. Pogba has endured a frustrating 2019-20 campaign to date, having only managed five Premier League appearances in total due to a string of fitness issues. He is currently recovering from an ankle injury and last played for the club on September 30 against Arsenal. Solskjaer had said that the France international will be out of action till December. "It might be 45 minutes in the first game, it might be half an hour, it might be 90. It depends on what game he comes back in and I'm looking back to get Paul back to where I had him about a year ago," Solskjaer said. ...
