Prasad wants to work with Ravi Shastri or Virender Sehwag

Former India bowler Venkatesh Prasad has dismissed all speculations that he has applied for the job of India's head coach joining the likes of Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag, among others.

Earlier, a report in Times Of India, stated that Prasad, who has played 33 Tests and 161 ODIs for India was the latest applicant for the top job.

However, squashing all rumors, Prasad said, "I've not applied for the head coach's role yet and might not do so before the deadline," Prasad was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"However, I'm very much keen to contribute to Indian cricket as an assistant coach or a bowling coach. I can work under Ravi Shastri or Virender Sehwag or whoever becomes the head coach and bring in my experiences as an international cricketer and a former coach," he added.

Till now Team India didn't had a bowling coach under Anil Kumble but Prasad stated that if the CAC thinks there's a role of a bowling coach then he is ready to take the job.

"I'm not sure whose prerogative it is to pick the assistant or bowling coaches but if the legends at the CAC - Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman consider me worthy, I will be more than happy to work towards the betterment of Indian cricket," Prasad said.

The report further stated that the Committee of Advisors (COA) wasn't happy with the manner in which the Anil Kumble-Virat Kohli matter was handled. According to the report the COA came to know about the matter only after the IPL 2017 final in Hyderabad.

"They (CoA members) came to know about the problem only after the IPL final in Hyderabad last month, by which time it was too late to do anything except ask the CAC to pitch in," an official stated.

The report further stated that top members were just not happy with the way an BCCI official asked Sehwag to apply for the job.

"If it (the extension) was done to suit Shastri, it won't go down well with Viru, who, we must remember, was asked to apply in the first place. Neither will he be pleased about Sachin Tendulkar's reported request to Shastri to apply for the job."

India withdraw Smith protest as boards make peace in DRS row

India have withdrawn an official protest about the actions of Australia captain Steve Smith in the second test as the governing bodies of both countries moved to bring an end to the acrimony surrounding the ongoing four-match series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier registered a complaint to the International Cricket Council (ICC) over Smith looking to the dressing room for guidance on whether to review an lbw decision during the Bengaluru match. Despite the hosts winning the test to level the series at 1-1 on Tuesday, India skipper Virat Kohli alleged the tourists had indulged in the practice throughout the match, sparking a war of words in the media and a robust response from Australia. The boards released a joint statement on Friday saying the chief executives of both bodies had met in Mumbai on Thursday and agreed to try and bring the focus "back to the game" ahead of next week's third test in Ranchi. "India has always cherished a c...

"Paul is going to play when he gets his fitness. He is one of the best players in the world when he's in form and we just need to give him time to be 100 per cent fit," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. Pogba has endured a frustrating 2019-20 campaign to date, having only managed five Premier League appearances in total due to a string of fitness issues. He is currently recovering from an ankle injury and last played for the club on September 30 against Arsenal. Solskjaer had said that the France international will be out of action till December. "It might be 45 minutes in the first game, it might be half an hour, it might be 90. It depends on what game he comes back in and I'm looking back to get Paul back to where I had him about a year ago," Solskjaer said. ...
