Call by Gujarat Lions 'a start of fresh opportunity': Irfan Pathan

India discard Irfan Pathan, who has been roped in by Gujarat Lions as a replacement for injured Dwayne Bravo for the remainder of this season of IPL, has asserted that it's a start of a fresh opportunity for him.

"It's a start of a fresh opportunity. Hopefully I will be able to bowl and grab my opportunity. I am looking forward to the remaining of the IPL," Pathan told ANI.

Besides Pathan, Gujarat Lions have signed Ankit Soni as replacement for injured Shivil Kaushik for the remainder of the tournament.

While Bravo failed to recover in time from a hamstring injury, Kaushik featured in three matches before being ruled out of the tournament.

Pathan has represented India in 29 Tests, 120 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 24 T20 Internationals. The all-rounder last played for the Rising Pune Supergiant and will now represent his sixth IPL franchise.

Gujarat Lions' next IPL encounter is against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday at Bengaluru.
