Fanatics troll Shami for wife's dress in couple's photo

India pace spearhead Mohammed Shami is the latest victim of social media outrage after a photograph with his wife posted on Facebook led to nasty comments.

Shamii was left to fend off shocking criticism for posting a picture of his wife in a sleeveless dress on social media. Most of the comments demanded Shami ensure that his wife, Hasin Jahan, was not seen without wearing a hijab. India pacer Mohammed Shami will miss the One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) series against England due to injury.

Shami who was ruled out of the Chennai Test is still nursing his his right-knee injury and is likely to be out of action for a month.

Former India batsman, Mohammad Kaif, was among those who sprang to Shami’s defence, slamming those posting offensive comments.

Such attacks by fanatics on sports personalities is nothing new. Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza, the world No 1 women's doubles player, over the years has been targeted for wearing short skirts by the muslim clerics.

"It might be 45 minutes in the first game, it might be half an hour, it might be 90. It depends on what game he comes back in and I'm looking back to get Paul back to where I had him about a year ago," Solskjaer said. ...
