Uncapped Alzarri Joseph called up for 2nd Test vs India

"There is this young kid Alzarri Joseph who in the last two Caribbean Premier League games pinged the helmet of no less a batsman than AB de Villers and another top batsman and although he may be contracted to play for his franchise team the West Indies Board can surely get him released to play in the Test matches to follow," wrote Sunil Gavaskar in his column, 'How the wheel has turned! Rope in Alzarri Joseph'.

Four days later, West Indies have added the 19-year-old fast bowler from Antigua to their squad for the second Test against India.

The second Test starts in Jamaica on Saturday.

The inclusion of Joseph gives West Indies a genuine pace option that was lacking in their crushing innings loss to India in the opening Test.

With his pace Joseph can be an ideal partner to Shannon Gabriel, who was impressive in patches in the first Test.

Though he has limited experience at the senior level having played only 12 matches including eight first-class games, Joseph, who was part of the winning Under-19 World Cup team in February, has impressed by taking 24 wickets at an average of 24.45 with two five-wicket hauls.

Joseph was also the joint third-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 13 wickets at an average of 13.76 when he also bowled his fastest ball, clocked at 143kph

Leeds [UK], Jan 16 (ANI): Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said they will do 'everything' they can to get Marcus Rashford in shape for the Liverpool clash. Rashford sustained a back injury on Thursday during the FA Cup clash against Wolves on Thursday and left the field. But we've seen that he's struggled lately - but more when he's been tired," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. "He wasn't on long enough to be tired so I think it might have been something that just happened there and then. He's been absolutely top this season so we'll do everything we can to get him fit for Sunday. If he's not then we'll play without him," he added. "Paul is going to play when he gets his fitness. He is one of the best players in the world when he's in form and we just need to give him time to be 100 per cent fit," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying. Pogba has endured a frustrating 2019-20 campaign to date, having only managed five Premier League appearances in total due to a string of fitness issues. He is currently recovering from an ankle injury and last played for the club on September 30 against Arsenal. Solskjaer had said that the France international will be out of action till December. "It might be 45 minutes in the first game, it might be half an hour, it might be 90. It depends on what game he comes back in and I'm looking back to get Paul back to where I had him about a year ago," Solskjaer said. ...
