An announcement last week by an Indian official that one of the Tests on New Zealand's tour would be a day-night match took New Zealand by surprise. But a meeting between NZC chief executive David White and Indian officials has smoothed the way for the first day-night test in India, likely in Mumbai.
India will trial a pink ball in domestic matches to determine how it wears and how well it can be seen in local conditions.
New Zealand played Australia in the world's first day-night test in Adelaide last year. White said NZC believed day-night tests would play a big part in cricket's future.
