Montgomerie wins European Senior Tour event

Colin Montgomerie successfully defended his Travis Perkins Senior Masters title Sunday, winning the European Senior Tour event by a tournament-record 10 strokes.


The 51-year-old Montgomerie closed with a 5-under 67 on Woburn's Duke's Course to finish at 12-under 204, also a tournament record. The Scot earned $74,030 to push his tour-record season total to $662,985.


Montgomerie won for the fourth time in nine career European Senior Tour starts. He has three victories this season, also winning the Senior PGA Championship in Michigan and the U.S. Senior Open in Oklahoma.


American Tim Thelen, Montgomerie's college teammate at Houston Baptist, tied for second with Austria's Gordon Manson and Switzerland's Andre Bossert. Manson finished with a 67, and Thelen and Bossert shot 71.

Leeds [UK], Dec 7 (ANI): Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised midfielder Paul Pogba, saying that he is one of the best players in the world when he is in good touch. "Paul is going to play when he gets his fitness. He is one of the best players in the world when he's in form and we just need to give him time to be 100 per cent fit," Goal.com quoted Solskjaer as saying.
