Belgrade: Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic announced on Wednesday that he is set to miss the rest of the season due to an injury to his right elbow. "All the doctors I've consulted, and all the specialists I have visited, in Serbia and all over the world, have agreed that this injury requires rest," 12-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic said. Talking Point: Dhawan sets record-breaking date with Sri Lanka

Gabbar is back. Twirling his mustache and rekindling memories of his superb 187 on debut, Shikhar Dhawan went on a rampage against a toothless Sri Lanka attack on Day one of the first Test at Galle. For the second time in his career, Dhawan scored a century in a session and made a blazing 190 off just 168 deliveries. His innings, studded with 31 boundaries saw the southpaw register his highest Test score as India at stumps were 399 for the loss of three wickets. Oh boy! The red ball just sped across the turf at Galle and the Sri Lankan fielders at one point didn't even bother running. After the early departure of Abhinav Mukund, Dhawan along with Cheteshwar Pujara forged a mammoth 253-run stand with the former adopting an attacking style of play right from ball one. Ever since the advent of ODIs in 1971 and T20Is in 2005, scoring rates have skyrocketed in Test cricket. Despite that, it is still a herculean effort to score more than 100 runs in a session as opposition captains...

It's beginning of good times for Indian women's cricket: Mithali Raj

Although Team India lost their chance of winning their maiden ICC Women's World Cup title by a whisker, skipper Mithali Raj believes that it is the beginning of good times for women's cricket in the country. India @ Women's World Cup 2017 The Indian team got a rousing reception upon their arrival at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Wednesday following their memorable campaign in the prestigious 50-over tournament in England. The Women in Blue performed exceedingly well throughout the tournament before ending up as runner-ups by going down by nine runs at the hands of England in the summit showdown at Lord's on July 23. Reflecting on their reception, Mithali said it is the first of its kind for the entire team before admitting that coming under the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made a huge difference to the women's cricket. "Obviously, it is quite overwhelming to see such kind of reception. It is first of its kind for all...

Pandya debuts as India bat in Galle against Sri Lanka

India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat in the first of the three-test series against hosts Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium on Wednesday. All-rounder Hardik Pandya was handed a test debut by the tourists, who are determined to begin the series well at a ground where Sri Lanka prevailed over them in 2015. "This time around we are starting off with a more solid combination, trusting our four strike bowlers to do the job and with Hardik Pandya stepping in," Kohli said at the toss. "He is a wicket-taker, he can make those breakthroughs for us," the India captain said of the 23-year-old. "That gives us good balance in the side. We surely want to start well in this series which we could not do last time." With regular opener Lokesh Rahul down with flu, Shikhar Dhawan and Abhinav Mukund will open the Indian innings. "It looks like a pretty hard surface with good grass cover on it, should hold up nicely. Putting runs on the...
