Choosing football tips for this weekend

While betting on football was somewhat simple when there were only a handful of games taking place, it's been hard to pick out clever tips when there's so many football fixtures to choose from. All football fans relish the return of the football season after the typically boring summer without it, but with so many matches being played across the globe, it can be hard to pinpoint worthwhile football tips for the weekend. Limiting yourself to solely betting on football from the English leagues hones your attention but it can also lead you to missing out on some game-changing fixtures in Europe. This is the primary reason that most punters will make use of all football markets on offer, as they’ll have more chances of sealing a winner merely by broadening their horizons. Regardless of how you might look at it, even the hundreds of matches being played out on a Saturday doesn’t improve your luck for winning bets. Key tips for choosing winning selections for the weekend include: ...

History making India U-20 team returns home

New Delhi: After scripting a memorable 2-1 victory over Argentina Under-20 in the COTIF Cup in Spain, the India U-20 football team returned to India on Friday morning amidst fanfare. "Every Indian should feel proud of the win," coach Floyd Pinto stated moments after landing in Delhi. "Not to forget, we also held U-20 World Cup runners-up Venezuela to a goalless draw," he added. "The boys had put up a great performance against Venezuela and after that match I said that they must raise the bar against Argentina," Pinto said. "The boys were extremely organised and focused. We got the goals at the right moments and the result was there for everyone to see," the coach added. Skipper Amarjit Singh mentioned after Aniket Jadhav got the marching orders in the second-half, they panicked a bit. "We were never in a mood to just sit back and defend. We were also up there to show our worth against the mighty Argentine side," a buoyant Amarji...

Sevilla eliminate Ujpest in Europa League qualifiers

Sevilla defeated Ujpest 3-1 in the second leg of their 2018-2019 Europa League second-round qualifier to win 7-1 on aggregate and claim a spot in the third round. The hosts, anxious to put behind them the 0-4 humiliation they suffered in Spain, sought to control the contest from the opening whistle here on Thursday, reports Efe news agency. Sevilla, with the job all but done, were ready to cede possession against an Ujpest side they had little reason to fear. Even so, it was the visitors who created the first chance of the night, as Pablo Sarabia redirected Ever Banega's corner to Daniel CarriƧo, unmarked at the near post, but Ujpest goalkeeper Pajovic easily handled the resulting header. The closest Ujpest came to scoring in the first half was a miscue by Mercado that left the ball at the feet of Nagy, but the Argentine defender recovered in to divert the Hungarian's shot away from the target. With 10 minutes to go before the break, an Escudero cross found Pablo Sarabia ...

Argentina should not depend on Messi heavily: Veron

Former Argentina midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron said the team must stop depending on Lionel Messi in order to develop the rest of their squad after their FIFA World Cup debacle. Argentina huffed and puffed to the Round-of-16 round before being brushed aside by eventual champions France 3-4. Messi, who scored a sublime goal in Argentina's last group game against Nigeria to haul their campaign back on track, is yet to discuss his international future. He has already come back from retirement once. The runners-up in the 2014 World Cup, Argentina also finished second at the Copa America in 2015 and 2016. "It's time to build a group. Obviously, if Leo is eager (to be part of the national team), they would need to involve him little by little," Veron was quoted as saying by ESPN Argentina. "I think we have to prepare the base and once and for all think about a team and not think about someone who can save us. Even more at this time, watching other national teams...

Gombau named Delhi Dynamos head coach

Spaniard Josep Gombau has been appointed head coach of Delhi Dynamos FC after signing a two-year contract, the Indian Super League (ISL) side announced on Thursday. The 42-year-old, who becomes the fifth head coach in five seasons in Delhi, takes over from Miguel Angel Portugal who left the club in May this year. Born in Amposta, Spain, Gombau started his coaching career at the age of 16 as he joined the youth team of Amposta FC. Gombau then left his home city to become a coach at Espanyol's youth team, before joining FC Barcelona B in 2003. During his six-year stint with the Catalan side, Gombau held multiple positions with the academy. "I am really excited and looking forward to this opportunity in the Indian Super League. I am not new to Asian football, so I know what to expect and I am ready for this challenge," a delighted Gombau said in a release. "The goal is to keep the philosophy of this club intact and to take the players to the next level where they ...

Tottenham's Son sorry to leave club for Asian Games

English Premier League side Tottenham Hostpur's striker Son Heung-Min feels sorry for having to leave his club to represent South Korea at the Asian Games this month. The 26-year-old is one of three overage players who has been named in South Korea's Under-23 squad for the tournament starting August 14. "I feel sorry because Tottenham is my team and I feel very sorry to be leaving my teammates," Son was quoted as saying by ESPNFC. Handed a new five-year contract recently, Tottenham agreed to release Son after their opening game at Newcastle on August 11. "I am playing for my country and that is also important, but honestly I feel very sorry about that. That is what I feel," he said. "We can talk about (the national service) afterwards. We haven't won it already. We are going there to win something, and winning trophies for my country is always good. I don't travel there for nothing." Son and his South Korean teammates would want to e...
